An alternative approach to the "12-Steps"
A significant and unexpected shift in the trajectory of your life that initially feels devastating but has the beneficial outcome of catalyzing personal growth, transformation and rebirth.
If you're seeing yourself in these questions, it could be the right time to explore an alternative route to sobriety—one that encourages healing, personal transformation, and the reclamation of your life in a way that aligns with your deepest values.
As a sober coach, my approach differs from the traditional AA 12-step program by focusing on holistic, individualized methods rather than a structured, step-by-step process. While AA emphasizes spirituality, admitting powerlessness over alcohol, and working through a specific set of steps, my services are centered on empowering you to take control of your life and health through a more personalized approach. I incorporate holistic practices that address the mind, body, and spirit. This might include mindfulness techniques, nutrition and exercise guidance, stress management, and exploring underlying emotional triggers. Rather than following a predetermined path, we’ll work together to create a customized plan that aligns with your unique needs, values, and goals. My approach is more flexible and adaptive, allowing us to address the root causes of your relationship with alcohol and develop sustainable strategies for long-term sobriety. The focus is on healing and growth in all areas of your life, empowering you to build a fulfilling, alcohol-free future.
In short, therapy often addresses the "why" behind behavior, while life coaching concentrates on the "how" to move forward. Life coaching and therapy both aim to help clients achieve personal growth, but they do so in different ways and with different focuses. Therapy often delves into past experiences, unresolved emotional issues, and mental health concerns, working to heal and understand these areas. The goal is often to help clients overcome barriers to mental well-being, manage disorders, and develop healthier emotional responses. In contrast, life coaching is more future-oriented. It focuses on setting and achieving specific goals, improving life skills, and creating actionable plans for personal and professional growth. While therapy may involve exploring and healing from the past, life coaching is more about taking the present and shaping it into a more fulfilling future.

I’m a recovering wine addict turned Sober Coach—because who better to guide you than someone who’s been there? My struggle with addiction spanned nearly 20 years, beginning in 2001 as casual, social drinking. In 2009, I embarked on a journey of self-awareness, only to uncover deep-seated emotions I had been suppressing my entire life. Not knowing how to process these feelings, I turned to alcohol for comfort and numbness.
In 2021, I faced a devastating loss - my younger brother passed away to cirrhosis of the liver at just 43 years of age. You would think this would have been my turning point, my rock bottom. NOPE! Despite the tragedy, I found myself leaning even more heavily on alcohol to cope with the overwhelming grief and pain. By 2024, my addiction had spiraled to the point that my body physically depended on it and I was drinking from sunup to sundown. Of course, I hid this from my wife and loved ones. About a month into this agonizing routine, my wife marked the liquor bottles and the true severity of my addiction was revealed. Seeing the pain that my sneaking and deceit caused her was finally my ROCK BOTTOM. Four days later, I checked myself in to a 30-day inpatient facility, determined to reclaim my life. During treatment, I discovered my true passion - helping others on their journey to recovery. After my discharge, I renewed my Life Coach Certification, originally obtained in 2017, and furthered my expertise by completing a course through World Coach Institute, becoming a Certified Addiction Recovery Coach.
